Target group

Single homeless men who are moving on from first stage hostel accommodation, mainly from the East London area. Must be willing to pursue employment and/or training opportunities. Priority given to those with a local connection.

Will not accept

Men with active alcohol or drug dependency problems.

Referral agencies

Accept referrals from any agency. Can accept referrals direct from prison.

Referral procedure

Agency referrals only. Phone Mon-Fri 9am-5pm. Application form to be completed by applicant and referral agency. Interview. Require references. Must be eligible for benefits (if not working).

Support services

1 member of staff, available at off-site office Mon-Fri 9am-5pm and visits residents at least weekly during day or evening. Compulsory monthly keywork meetings. Support plans with agreed outcomes are reviewed monthly. Focus on training and finding employment. Offer help with filling in forms and applications, money issues and developing independent living skills.

House rules and tenure

Attendance at regular house meetings, keywork sessions and meetings with move-on manager required. Assured shorthold tenancy.

Monthly tenants' meetings with member of project staff. Provides feedback to management, discusses policies and offers mutual support.

Cumberland Road provides accommodation for 5 single homeless men. The project is also used as move-on accommodation for residents moving out of other associated hostels. Smoking is allowed in resident's bedroom.
